What to expect during a colonic hydrotherapy session?
Making the decision to cleanse you colon can be very beneficial to your health, but you might not be sure of
what to expect during a colonic hydrotherapy session. Here is a quick basic guide
to help you relax and feel confident before having your treatment.
- You should expect to be in the clinic for about an hour. The colonic will take about forty minutes, and
then you have time to get changed before and afterwards.
- A nurse will provide you with a robe to wear, and will be there to talk you through the process and help to
keep you calm. During the session you may be offered a stomach massage with oils. This is to relax you and help
the water dislodge more waste.
- The nurse will insert a tube into your rectum, roughly around three inches inside. Water will be slowly
introduced and the heat will be changed to suit you. Once you are comfortable the nurse may leave the room and
occasionally check in on your to make sure you are happy and comfortable.
- During the procedure you may experience some unpleasant feelings. Nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and
releasing gas are some effects. You may also find you get a headache. If you do feel uncomfortable the nurse is
there to help, and can reassure and relax you.
- The water will be softening hardened feces in your large intestines; all the waste and toxins will then be
expelled when the water is released. Most modern machines will carry the waste away for you, more traditional
techniques you will expel the water through normal peristalsis.
After the treatment you are often provided with a probiotic drink and a supplement. And your nurse will discuss
the treatment with you. You should feel refreshed, revitalized and lighter after the first treatment.
